A modern and gentle approach to tooth extraction

Your Dental Health is in Good Hands

When it comes to teeth, extraction is always the last resort. However, this procedure Is sometimes necessary to prevent or treat serious health problems, such as severe tooth decay or infection. Tooth extraction can also be needed in case there’s not enough room in your mouth for all your teeth, or even before a cosmetic procedure. Whatever the reason, make sure you get help from an experienced and caring dentist.

At Zenith Dental, one of our Ft Myers tooth extraction doctors will assess your situation and give you a professional diagnosis to ensure that a tooth extraction is truly the best option for you. They’ll explain to you everything you need to know so that you can rest easy knowing you are in the best hands.

Simple vs. Surgical Tooth Removal

The kind of extraction you’ll need depends mainly on whether the tooth is clearly visible or not. If It’s showing, you will need a simple tooth extraction. After using local anesthesia to numb the area, one of our dentists will loosen the tooth and remove it. This is usually a quick procedure that takes about 20-45 minutes.

In case your tooth isn’t fully visible or is broken, you’ll likely need a surgical tooth extraction. In these situations, the doctor will make a small incision in your gum to remove the tooth. This procedure is also typically performed under local anesthesia.

“I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to technology! I’m always researching tools and techniques and get excited when I find something new that can help our patients. My favorite right now? Same-day crowns. It’s fast and easy to make a perfect crown.”

What’s Next? – Replacing A Tooth

There are a number of possibilities for those with a missing tooth. At Zenith Dental, your dentist will talk to you about the different restorative dentistry treatments we offer and will work with you to decide on the most appropriate one for you. Some of the options they may suggest include:

  • Dental implants: They are placed in the bone of the jaw to support a crown
  • Bridges: These are “false teeth” that are fixed to your neighboring teeth
